In red, fourteen stories in the air, read the traditional lettering of the illuminated sign advertising the Hotel Monteleone. It tempts you to follow its clarion call through the streets of the French Quarter and its storied doors.
Located a block off Bourbon Street, at the corner of antique shop-lined Royal Street and the foodie haven known as Iberville Street, the streetscape Hotel Monteleone looks more like a wedding cake than a hotel. With its ornate, white-painted facade, it stands out among the nearby collection of ATMs and pharmacies like time travelers who haven't had time to change their clothes.
